Market at the Sheds hosted another stellar event and this time, Lebogang Tlokana, also known as the Funny Chef, was the event host. The event took place on Saturday, 3 June 2023 at the 012 central lofts, Pretoria.
The heart of Pretoria was filled with color and over 50 stalls, which sold art abstracts, food, clothes as well as body products just to name a few. On the poster, Market at the Sheds was said to be an open family event, and indeed it was. The place was filled with kids running around in the field, to elderly people who were enjoying the 90’s music that was played.

One of the audiences commented that “lately it is hard to attend an event with your family all together but its different with Market at the Sheds. I came here to enjoy a nice space with my two kids and my grandmother as well as her sister and I can say we are all having a nice time here”, Ponalo Molabe said.
The music merged beautifully with the scenery and Tlokana’s (the funny chef) appearance placed the cherry on top for this event. The funny chef’s fans came out in numbers to have a personal feel of their favorite celebrity chef.
The audience was stunned and excited to see The Funny Chef in person, whilst she was busy cooking in front of them. One of the fans mentioned that “oh my, I love the funny chef and her cooking, her personality she is such a nice person, and I am happy I got the chance to see her so close today”, Marriam Dikobopo said.

The Encore music group also graced the audience on stage by performing one of their famous hits ‘Ke fela pelo’ amongst many other songs that they performed. The audience also appeared to enjoy the sing along session, which was conducted by The Encore Music Group whilst performing.

One of the stalls at the event was owned by Thabiso Maako who manufactures handmade leather products, as well as artistic abstracts. In his interview, Maako mentioned that him and his partner started the leather business back in 2012. He also mentioned that he enjoys doing business at these type of events since the audience at the Market at the Sheds is likely to be his target market.

“I like events like these because they are based on creatives. The audience also appreciates artistic talent in its different forms which can be motivating enough.” says Thabiso Maako.
Maako also mentioned that on their leather items collection, his favorite item is ‘the brown bag’ which he holds so close to his heart. “This bag has emotions, because as we work in creating the products, we put emotions in the creative process which makes our work so exclusive” say Maako.
For those that missed this month’s installment of the Market at the Sheds, be sure to attend the next one which will be hosted on the 1st of July 2023.
